Originally from Germany, Jonas started working on a whale watching boat in Kaikoura, New Zealand as a tour guide when he traveled the country in 2006.
Photography had always been a hobby for Jonas, so he started taking his camera out on the boat with him and took pictures on a daily basis.
As his visa was about to come to an end and he had no plans to return to Germany just yet he applied for jobs with whale watching companies in Australia and was offered a job as photographer with Whale Watching Sydney.
More than a decade later, he still works for Whale Watching Sydney in various roles, but still tries to get out on the boat as often as he can.
Jonas’ photos have been featured in newspapers around the world and one even found its way onto the album cover of a popular Japanese pop band called Mr. Children.
