New Paint for Ocean Dreaming 2

Our flagship vessel Ocean Dreaming 2 has been wrapped with a new livery created by Gomeroi artist and TAFE NSW teacher Warwick Keen.

The new look vessel has been launched as part of the NRMA’s contribution to the Sydney Solstice Festival and to kick off two new cruise experiences in partnership with Tribal Warrior – the Aboriginal Whale Watching Experience and Aboriginal Sky Dreaming Cruise.

Both experiences will run for the duration of the Sydney Solstice Festival until 20 June 2021. At the end of the Festival Ocean Dreaming 2 will revert back to providing whale watching and other tourism experiences throughout Sydney Harbour.

The new Aboriginal Whale Watching Experience will provide whale watching through a culturally significant lens, with a focus on the importance of whales to Aboriginal culture and stories of land, water and sky told by Yuin Elder, Uncle Max Harrison and Dean Kelly.

NRMA Group CEO Rohan Lund said the organisation wanted to help make the Sydney Solstice a success by offering a unique experience for visitors to the Harbour city.

Award winning Aboriginal artist Warwick Keen said his work was an interpretation of the Aboriginal art practice of dendroglyphs, which brings together the water and craft.

“There is a relationship, brought to life through this art, between the overlaid text signposting of our people and the early work of the NRMA in helping guide Australia’s first motorists,” Mr Keen said.

“I am extremely proud that my work will live to tell its story every day as Ocean Dreaming 2 rides across the waves of our famous Harbour.”
